Taber's Fishing Report
by Pat Rooney
2/15/08 Hello from Big Winni. The perch bite is on even with the unsettled weather. The east side from the stumps north all the way to North Moxeys hole is good. South end fish the 20 to 24 feet area. the first underwater point going north the depth changes to 24 to 26 feet. At Moxeys the good depth is 30 feet. This shore drop has a good Walleye movement from 4 to 8 pm at the top of the main bank. 16 to 20 feet.Plain hook and minnow fished next to a Buck shot rattle spoon and a minnow head is working well. the humps north and west of Bena bar working very well for Pike. Set Tip ups on the top of the humps in 21 to 24 feet. 20 fish a day is common. If the pike slows down that hump is good for perch down the side to 30 feet.walleyes have been caught on the top of these humps at twilight also. Travel on the ice is good. Roads have been plowed from several resorts. Check in to get an up to date on the ice. 27 to 32 inches every where I have been. you can get out of roads in a lot of spots. See you on the ice. Pat.

Winnie tournament fishing dating back to the Becker's Tournament, the MTT circuit, the WWA circuit, the USFA Team Walleye circuit, & the RCL tourneys. Qualified for championships on all of those circuits.
Although I enjoy tournament fishing, one of my favorite past times is taking kids fishing out on the launch and remembering a kid's smile with their first Walleye.
